Every year, approximately 4 million women in the U.S. embark on the journey of motherhood. However, an alarming number, nearly 1 million, confront complications at various stages - be it during pregnancy, while delivering, or in the postpartum phase.
Research underscores that a staggering 60% of pregnancy-related fatalities could be averted if women received superior healthcare quality, gained improved access to medical services, and made informed health and lifestyle decisions. Ensuring timely and comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care can lay the foundation for a healthier future for both mothers and their newborns.
Postpartum care is an essential component of maternal health that is often overlooked. Unfortunately, many new mothers don't have access to the necessary resources or support to recover from childbirth and adjust to life with a newborn.
Our postpartum center is a charitable organization that is designed to help address this critical need by providing new mothers in our community with access to skilled postpartum care professionals and essential care items. These programs includes postpartum care packages that include diapers, nursing supplies, and other baby care products, as well as educational resources and support from experienced caregivers. But we need your help to make this happen!
We have launched this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to provide a facility to new mothers in our community who desperately need it. By donating to our campaign, you can help us to provide essential postpartum care services to less fortunate women in our community. Your contribution will go directly towards obtaining a facility to establish the center. With your help, we can make a real difference in the lives of new mothers and their families.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help us reach our goal of providing more support to those who need it most. Thank you for your generosity and support. Together, we can make a difference and help new mothers thrive during this critical time in their lives.
My name is Dr. Challotine Cius-Bonds and I am a board certified Naturopathic Doctor, Natural Health Practitioner and Author. I have also consulted to food and health organizations, laboratory scientists and have an extensive background in marketing and design.
Outside of being a doctor, I am a wife, mom and artist. My passion in life is helping and feeding others. When I say feeding, I don’t just mean literally. I feed people knowledge, feed their hearts, feed their spirits and their minds. I enjoy seeing people look at life with meaning and purpose. I am a little bit of an old soul and have been told that for as long as I can remember. I was born to Haitian parents in Virginia and grew up in a small beach town off the Gulf coast of Florida.
It was also my Haitian roots that lead me into natural medicine. It was a part of my life since I was a child. All kinds of vines, plants and herbs in my mother’s yard and garden were brewed for every aliment I ever had, which is why I rarely took medicine. I ate fresh farm raised meats and vegetables from my grandmother’s garden when I’d visited Haiti. There was nothing in the world like it. I realized at a young age that something was special about the simplicity, eating natural fresh foods and drinking tea. Now, I am on a journey to share my knowledge and experience with others. I hope to help you find answers, share wisdom, give some advice and share ideas that will help you along your road to a better and healthier you.
My first company, Janou LLC was created to share a piece of my culture, experiences and my love for wellness and self care with you. This lifestyle brand will revolutionize the way women of color and culture receive their wellness. I hope you enjoy the services and products and learn something about yourself along the way.
Janou Postpartum Center Inc, is the next step to advancing my mission to help women and children of color. As a mother, I have been through postpartum 4 times and have experienced, unbritaled strength, loss, pain, discomfort, failure and depression. Each pregnancy was different, but required a lot of patience in the healing process. Because I was a doctor and advocate for my health, I avoided many things, but somethings I learned along the way. I am extremely passionate about being an advocate for women's health and for the necessary care needed after giving birth. This center is my heartbeat and is my passion project.
I am creating a spiritual sanctuary for women or culture and color to embrace their journey of motherhood with a community of women who can relate and support one another. This isn't a cause, but a spiritual movement.
At Janou Postpartum Center, we assist new mothers with the transition from delivery through their postpartum journey, both physically and emotionally.
